Early Signs And Symptoms Of Pregnancy

Knowing the early signs of pregnancy is useful to anyone that could find themselves pregnant.  When asking yourself, "am I pregnant" it is helpful to know what feelings and physical reactions your body may be showing. Every woman's body is different, and that means that the symptoms of pregnancy will change from one person to the next.  It is impossible to know how your body will tell you that you are pregnant.  Nevertheless, there are some symptoms of being pregnant that many women experience.

Early Pregnancy Signs

During ovulation, the woman's body begins to prepare for the release and then implantation of the fertilized egg.  Of course, this can only happen if the sperm meets the egg at just the right moment to create a fertilized egg.  When that happens, the body instantly goes to work to create a nurturing, safe environment for the fragile embryo.  When your body springs to action like this, there are outward signs that this is happening.

Some of the first signs of pregnancy are the most difficult to take notice of because they can be very small.  During the first few weeks of pregnancy, your body is already changing so much that outward symptoms can be seen.  Here are some of the most obvious changes that your body is going through even in the very first weeks of pregnancy.
  • Fatigue:  The body is spending a lot of energy on the development of a safe haven for the baby to be born.  This can often leave you very tired, even if your day to day life has not changed any.  What's more, there is a huge influx of hormones entering your blood stream, which is to blame for nearly all of the symptoms of pregnancy that you will face.
  • Breasts Swell:  One of the very first signs of pregnancy is breasts that are swollen.  They may feel tender and may ache.  This can happen as soon as just two weeks after conception of the baby.  This is due to hormone changes in your body.  Usually, the breasts will not hold onto this symptom for long.  They will feel heavier and often can feel fuller in size.
  • Cramping And Bleeding:  As the embryo implants into the uterus, you may experience slight bleeding and cramping.  This is often called implantation bleeding.  It does not last long and it will not be nearly as much as your standard period.  It is usually lighter in color as well as spottier than your standard menstrual period.  Many women also experience some cramping at this time.  Intense pain is not normal, but light cramping is.  This happens at about 10 days after your become pregnant.
  • Nausea:  Many women's first sign of pregnancy is that of morning sickness.  It can happen in as little as two weeks from the time that you conceive, making it one of the first things you will feel.  Most doctors believe that this is caused by the influx of huge amounts of hormones into the body.  While they may not know for sure, there is no doubt you will feel light headed, nauseous, or even begin to vomit.
These early signs of pregnancy are a sure telling sign that you could be experiencing pregnancy.  Today, there are many tests that you can take to help you to find out if you are in fact pregnant.  Start by taking an early pregnancy test, which are available over the counter and can help to detect pregnancy very early on.  There is no reason to ask the question "am I pregnant" again when you know how your body may react to it.
