When Is It Happening?

Your pregnancy due date is a very important number.  To any soon to be parents, this date is a very special occurrence.  If you are planning to conceive and you want to get within a specific date range, you need to know how to calculate your due date. If you have not been able to make it to your doctor just yet but you know that you are pregnant, you too can determine when your baby will be born based on the estimated time that you will be pregnant.  In fact, if you have a missed period, you can start estimated this date right away. There are several ways to do so.

Calculating Your Due Date

Are your pregnant?  If so, you may be experiencing some of the early signs of pregnancy soon, in as short as two weeks from the time that you conceive.  Conception is a very important part of the process and one that is often difficult to predict.  Did you conceive two weeks ago or two days ago?  This information along with your pregnancy due date are able to be determined based on your menstrual cycle and a bit of calculations.  Start off by knowing when your last period was.  The day after your period started is considered the first day of your menstrual cycle and day one of determining when baby will be born.  About a week to ten days after this date is when you are most likely to conceive the baby, as this is prime time for egg ovulation to happen.

Once the egg meets the sperm, the pregnancy starts.  However, do you start counting your 40 weeks now or at another time?  Pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks, but that timeframe includes the two weeks after your last period and before you conceived!  Therefore, you have about 38 weeks to do before you deliver your baby at the time of conception. If you have missed your period, then you are likely between two and three weeks pregnant!  You should start to see the early pregnancy signs in your body soon.

Even if you have not begun to see pregnancy symptoms, you can still calculate your conception date and due date.  Another way to do this is to use a pregnancy calculator.  Here, you simply need to fill in the date of your last period and within a matter of seconds it will tell you when the baby is likely to arrive in your home.  Keep in mind that the information it provides to you can only be as good as the information that you give it.  In other words, be as close to accurate as possible.

You can of course take a home pregnancy test to help you to determine if you re pregnant.  You can also consider the dates when you begin to ovulate the perfect time to start planning for a baby.

It is very important to remember that your pregnancy due date is really only a rough estimate.  In fact, there is only about a five percent chance that your baby will be born on this date!  Most babies are born at a different time altogether.  There is simply not way to know when your baby will decide that it is time to be born.  So, using your due date, realize that baby is likely to arrive up two weeks before or two weeks after your official due date.

Planning a pregnancy is difficult many because everyone's body will react differently.  Each pregnancy is likely to be unique, too.  With that said, you an use the tools available to you to help you to know when your baby is due and when you are best suited for conception.
